Privacy Policy for Fieldguard App
Effective Date: May 28, 2025
Thank you for using "Fieldguard" (hereinafter referred to as the "App")! This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. The developer and data controller for this App is Dmytro Uhryn (hereinafter referred to as "we," "us," or "our").
1. What Information We Collect
To ensure the proper functioning of the App and to provide you with air threat notification services, we may collect and process the following types of information:
- Device Information:
- FCM Token (Firebase Cloud Messaging Token): A unique identifier generated by Firebase, used to send you push notifications about alerts.
- Stable Device ID: An anonymous identifier of your device (e.g., Android ID for Android devices or Identifier For Vendor for iOS), which we use to uniquely identify the device for managing the trial period and preventing abuse. This ID is not directly linked to your personal information unless you provide it separately.
- User-Provided Information:
- User Identifier (Nickname/Name): If you activate a subscription using a license key, we ask you to provide an identifier (e.g., a nickname or first and last name) to associate with your license. You can change this identifier in the App settings.
- Selected Regions: A list of regions (provinces, cities) for which you wish to receive alert notifications.
- Subscription Information:
- Type of your subscription (e.g., "trial period," "licensed").
- Status of your subscription (active, inactive, expired).
- Trial period end date (if applicable).
- Notification History:
- We store on our server the history of notifications sent to you (including the region, message text, time, and alert priority) so you can review it in the App.
- Technical Data and Server Logs (Automatically Collected):
- Like most online services, our servers may automatically collect standard log information, such as your IP address (which may indicate your approximate geographic location), request type, date and time of the request, and server response status. This data is used to ensure the service's operation, diagnose issues, and maintain security.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Providing Core App Functions: Sending you timely air threat notifications for your selected regions.
- Managing Your Subscription: Activating and verifying the trial period, activating license keys, and checking your subscription status.
- Limited Personalization: Your "User Identifier" is used for display in your account and to link the license to a specific user or device.
- Improving the App: Analyzing anonymized usage data (if such collection is implemented and with your consent) to enhance functionality and user experience.
- Technical Support and Security: Diagnosing and resolving technical issues, preventing fraud, and addressing abuse.
- Communicating with You: Responding to your inquiries or providing important information about the App’s operation (e.g., changes to the Privacy Policy or Terms of Use).
3. Data Storage and Security
- Data necessary for the App’s operation (FCM token, stable device ID, selected regions, subscription status, notification history, user identifier) is stored on our servers, hosted in DigitalOcean data centers in Frankfurt, Germany.
- We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes using encryption (HTTPS for API communication), restricting data access, and other security measures.
- However, no method of data transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.
4. Data Retention
- We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide you with the App’s services or until you request us to delete your information (if technically feasible and compliant with legal requirements).
- Notification history may be retained for a certain period to support the history review functionality.
- Data associated with inactive or deleted accounts/devices may be deleted or anonymized after a certain period.
5. Sharing Your Information with Third Parties
- We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
- We may share some data with service providers who assist us in operating the App. For example:
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google LLC): We use FCM to send push notifications. This means your FCM token is shared with Google’s service for notification delivery. Google’s Privacy Policy is available on their website.
- DigitalOcean (DigitalOcean, LLC): Our servers are hosted on DigitalOcean’s infrastructure.
- We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to a legitimate request from government authorities.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, such as:
- Right to access your personal data
- Right to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Right to request deletion of your data (where applicable)
- Right to restrict processing under certain circumstances
